Report on reopening of Primary Section
“Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom.”
Global school closures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic presented an unprecedented risk to children's education, protection and well-being. Schools do much more than teach children how to read, write and count. They also provide nutrition, health and hygiene services; mental health and psychosocial support; and dramatically reduce the risk of violence and many more. The right to go to school and learn is central to every child’s development, safety and well-being. Yet in too many countries classrooms remain closed while social gatherings continue to take place in restaurants, salons and gyms.
School closures had led to reduced physical activity and poorer diets, increased levels of anxiety and self-harm, and exposure to domestic violence.
As government announced the reopening of the school for primary section, all the parents, teachers and the students welcomed the decision with enthusiasm. We resumed physical sessions for Grade I to V on 1st December 2021, after being shut for over 18 months in the wake of the COVID.
All the learners were super excited to attend offline classes. The academic team was ready with garlands, flowers, chocolates etc. to welcome the kids. Also, the mascot was welcoming all the kids. Some teachers made crown for the kids and as soon as the students entered the school premises, they were crowned. Then they entered the decorated gate on the drumbeats and were offered chocolates. All the classrooms were decorated to welcome all the little angels. Both teachers as well as students were glad to meet each other. All the safety measures of sanitization, social distancing and mask were taken care of. All the kids enjoyed the very first day of the reopening by enjoying some educational animated videos, fun games and welcome food. They all were glad to see each other and shared their lockdown memories with each other.
