Webinar was conducted on 28th December 2024 (20.30P.M. to 21.30 P.M. IST) by Cambridge team on exploring Cambridge primary and lower secondary humanities.
The webinar highlighted upon the curriculum of primary and lower secondary humanities and the teaching approaches to be used to deliver the curriculum.
Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Humanities is organized into three strands: People, Past and Places. The three strands are connected through common themes, but are distinct, as they each develop discipline-specific knowledge and skills.
People
Students will explore identities, communities, diverse worldviews, and concepts of power, rights and economics. The People strand relates to humanities and social science subjects such as psychology, sociology and economics.
Past
Students will explore; How has the world changed over time? How do we construct the past? Why are there different interpretations of the past and how this can inform us when making decisions in the future? The Past strand relates to history.
Places
Students will explore places, spaces and environments, locally, nationally and globally. The Places strand relates to geography.
Moreover, during the webinar, the facilitators were advised upon usage of enquiry-based teaching methodology to optimize the effectiveness of the deliverance of the curriculum.
The enquiry-based approach emphasised upon allowing the students to actively engage with a humanities topic which would enable them to build a comprehensive understanding of the world, while developing the necessary skills to critically engage with their learning and peers with the sole objective to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
