Report on Student Council Election

Student Council Election
Maturity is not by age, but by the acceptance of responsibilities”

  • Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults.  The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body.  They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.

  • The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures.  Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president.  The student council elections were conducted at PPSCIS on 04th July 2022. Any student that was interested in leadership, organizational behavior, event planning or becoming more involved in the school was welcome to become involved.  It helps our students develop an array of skills and abilities which helps them cope up in the real world.

  • Once the election was announced, students performed a critical assessment about his or her own abilities and skills and decided whether he or she would like to serve on the student council. This was an excellent critical self-reflection that really helped students measure the roles that best fit them or even identify personal weaknesses they would like to shore up.

  • In addition to boosting confidence, student councils at our School improve communication skills. When a student chooses to run for student council, he or she must be able to speak publicly. Once elected, these individuals must also be comfortable speaking openly with other student officers — including problem solving and accepting feedback.

  • Student councils at PPSCIS promote a sense of personal responsibility among students. Students running for student council are taking on leadership roles on behalf of the entire student body — he or she must then promote and uphold the values of the entire student body and the School.

  • At PPSCIS Serving on a student council and running for election are great opportunities for teaching and learning the principles of networking. When campaigning and trying to reach the student body for votes, students learnt the value of networking and the skills necessary for successful networking.

  • Student council programs also help to boost the resumes of elected students. Serving on a student council looks great on college applications and can be a great topic for student admission essays.
