The IIMUN Gujarat chapter provided a platform for students from various schools to engage in diplomatic discussions and problem-solving activities, simulating the workings of the United Nations. The conference was also attended by the students of PP Savani Cambridge International School.
Before the MUN, students were briefed about the event by the former director of IIMUN, Ms. Moorti Patel, who explained the significance of Model UN and its relevance in fostering critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills among students. The IIMUN Gujarat chapter was held from 21st to 23rd April and was a grand success.
The opening ceremony took place on the 21st, which was a grand affair. The ceremony began with the national anthem, followed by the lighting of the lamp and the welcome speech by the organizers. The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Mr. Bhavya Gandhi, who is a renowned actor. His speech was very inspiring and set the tone for the rest of the conference.
During the first conference, the delegates were divided into different committees, and discussed various topics related to global issues, including human rights, climate change, and international security. The discussions were intense and thought-provoking, and students were able to learn a great deal about diplomacy, negotiation, and leadership.
On the last day of the conference, the closing ceremony and award ceremony were held. The closing ceremony started with the closing speech by the organizers, followed by the prize distribution ceremony. Our school was awarded the “Best Delegation Award,” and many of our students received individual awards as well.
In conclusion, the IIMUN Gujarat chapter was a memorable experience for all the delegates who participated. Students got to learn a lot about diplomacy, international relations, and global issues. Students gained valuable skills, including public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork, and had the chance to broaden the horizons and understand the world in a more nuanced way.
