REPORT ON DISCOVER, PLAY, LEARN
PP. Savani Cambridge International School organized a series of activities on 15th & 16th of July, 2024, under the “Discover, Play and Learn” initiative aimed at enhancing learning experiences beyond traditional classroom settings. These activities encompassed a wide range of subjects including yoga, music, art, zumba, science, and English, catering to students’ holistic development.
Students commenced their day with yoga exercises that included different asanas, breathing techniques, and Surya Namaskar. These activities focused on relaxation and mindfulness. The music sessions focused on rhythm building. Students learned to appreciate and create rhythmic patterns through interactive exercises and music-based games whereas art activities featured marble painting, allowing students to express their creativity through vibrant colors and textures. Zumba sessions provided a fun and energetic way for students to stay active. Dancing to fast-paced music helped them improve coordination, stamina, and overall fitness levels.
In the science segment, students were tasked with designing and testing parachutes using various materials. This hands-on experiment aimed to encourage critical thinking through hypothesis testing. English activities focused on action verbs, where students learned through physical actions and corresponding sounds. This interactive approach made learning grammar more engaging and memorable.
Students of grade 1 and 2 ended both of their days with the screening of “The Chronicles of Narnia,” which aimed to stimulate their imagination and foster a love for storytelling and fantasy worlds. Meanwhile, students in grades 3 to 5 watched “The Karate Kid” and were challenged to write reviews. This activity encouraged critical analysis, improved writing skills, and promoted thoughtful reflection on themes and character development within the film.
Overall, the “Discover, Play, Learn” activities were a resounding success, providing students with opportunities to explore diverse interests, develop new skills, and deepen their understanding of various subjects in a dynamic and engaging manner. These activities not only complemented classroom learning but also nurtured creativity, physical well-being, and critical thinking among the students.
