Formal Report: Chatra Sansad Trip to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Day 1: July 15, 2023
The Chatra Sansad trip to Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar was a highly educational and informative experience for all the participants. The journey began at 4:00 AM on July 15, 2023, when we departed from the school premises. We arrived at the Kanak Beacon Hotel in Ahmedabad at around 9:30 AM after a few stops for washroom breaks and refreshments.
After freshening up and having breakfast, we left the hotel at 11:00 AM for our first visit to the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha. We arrived at the venue around 12:00 PM and were introduced to various aspects of the legislative process, including the roles of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, different types of galleries for reporters and public, and special seating arrangements for VVIP guests. We also learned that every session’s report is available in the library within the building.
After lunch, we visited the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) at around 3:00 PM. Here, we gained knowledge about earthquakes and the instruments used to detect them. We also saw graphs plotted when these values are found, with different colors representing different channels (R, G, B).
From ISR, we proceeded to the Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) at around 4:30 PM. We learned about the importance of law, why it is considered a powerful subject, and various other aspects of law and its applications. We also witnessed students engaged in social work, such as serving unserved food to laborers and needy individuals.
We had snacks at GNLU’s dining hall before heading to IIT Gandhinagar at around 6:30 PM. We explored various facilities on campus, including sports grounds, indoor sports facilities, gym, art room, and hostel buildings. We also witnessed their supercomputer and makers’ lab with advanced machinery like 3D printers.
After dinner, we returned to our hotel at around 9:30 PM and were instructed to wake up at 6:30 AM the next day.
Day 2: July 16, 2023
We woke up at 6:30 AM and had breakfast at 7:30 AM before checking out of the hotel at 8:30 AM. Our first visit of the day was to Narendra Modi Stadium at around 9:00 AM, where we learned about different types of suites and seating arrangements for VIPs. We took a few photographs before moving on to our next destination.
At around 10:15 AM, we visited Mahatma Gandhi’s Ashram in Ahmedabad. Here, we learned about Gandhi’s struggles for Indian independence, his opposition to salt tax, and his various contributions to the country. We also had lunch there.
Our next visit was to the Gujarat High Court at around 12:50 PM, where we met Advocate General Mitesh Amin. He shared valuable insights into law and its applications, as well as his experiences handling media attention and pressure.
From there, we proceeded to IndianINX GIFT City in Gandhinagar at around 4:00 PM. We learned about how the market functions, the role of IndianINX, and various other financial concepts such as IFSCA, SEBI, ESMA, BSC, and FEMA.
We concluded our trip with dinner at around 8:30 PM in Vadodara before returning to Surat by bus. We arrived back in Surat at around 1:00 AM on July 17, marking the end of our educational excursion.
Overall, this trip provided us with a wealth of knowledge about various subjects and institutions in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The experiences shared by our guides and experts added significant value to our understanding of these topics.
