The Early Years celebrated Independence Day on 14th August 2026 (Friday) with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The celebration was based on the theme “Freedom”, with the aim of helping children understand and appreciate the importance and value of freedom.
Early Years 1 participated in the “Open the Door” activity, where students freed paper birds from a cage and placed them on trees, symbolizing the joy of being free. They also created a tricolour paper collage by sticking papers in saffron, white, and green on the picture of the Indian flag, adding a creative touch to the Independence Day celebration.
Early Years 2 celebrated the freedom to dream through an imaginative and joyful activity. Each child walked through the specially created “Freedom to Dream” gate, shared what they wished to become when they grew up, and dressed up as their chosen profession. The activity gave children an opportunity to express their aspirations with confidence and celebrate the freedom to dream big. They also created Tricolour Mini Flags using colourful tinsel stems and wooden popsicle sticks. The children proudly made their miniature flags and took them home as a special Independence Day keepsake.
Early Years 3 presented an engaging skit titled “The Bird in the Golden Cage” at the MI Lab. Through the performance, the children explored the value of freedom and understood why being free is important. They also participated in a creative Tricolour Tulip Craft, making beautiful tulips using papers in the colours of the Indian flag.
The celebration provided the children with meaningful opportunities to understand the virtue of freedom through play, creativity, expression, imagination, and performance. The activities beautifully connected the spirit of Independence Day with the children’s own experiences of making choices, expressing themselves, and dreaming about their future. The day concluded with a strong message that freedom is a precious gift that allows every individual to learn, dream, express, and grow.
